Have you ever wondered exactly what you are giving your dog when you feed him a treat? Is your dog getting great nutritional value from the treats? Most dog treats that are made in a factory contain various chemicals and preservatives. These chemicals are not helping your dog to remain balanced. A good balanced meal plan for your dog is just as beneficial as your diet staying balanced. I would not recommend a specific diet for your pet without first consulting their veterinarian. Most veterinarians can help you to decide what specific needs your pet has. You can help maintain balance with some easy homemade dog treats.

There are so many factors that are important in determining your pet’s diet. If your dog has diabetes they would require a lower carbohydrate diet. So if you made your own dog food and treats you could use less starch and carbohydrates than if your dog did not have these special needs. If your dog has digestive problems, you may want to increase the fiber in your dog’s diet. This would allow for more free and easy movement in your dog’s digestive system. If your dog requires lowered cholesterol you could cut out some of the red meats and incorporate more chicken or even fish. You can accomplish this balance needed through some easy homemade dog treats.

Easy Homemade Dog Treats: What to Shop For

There are some basic things that you could include on your shopping list. First would be some fresh fruits and vegetables. You are going to want to avoid buying acidic produce. Tomatoes, oranges, limes, and lemons all contain citric acid and should not be included in your dog’s diet. Some good vegetable to include would be fresh carrots, celery, green beans, and turnips. These all have a very good variety of nutritional content. Some greenery such as spinach, kale, romaine and even broccoli would be great to include as well. These items are great sources of fiber and iron. They also include vitamin A, B vitamins, and vitamin C. Easy homemade dog treats can allow you to decide what your pet is eating.

Some of the meat to include would be heart. Heart is a very lean source of protein. If your dog needs to reduce their cholesterol or fat intake including heart would be most beneficial. Liver is a very good source of iron and so many vitamins. It has great nutritional value. It is usually recommended for young or very active dogs. Liver is quite high in cholesterol, so if you feed it to an inactive dog it is going to build up in their blood stream. Chicken contains great protein and is very lean. Peanut butter has great nutritional value.

Easy Homemade Dog Treats: In Conclusion

When you have determined the needs of your pet as far as their diet is concerned, and then you can use that to determine what you will need to purchase. By making these foods at home, you will know exactly what your dog is consuming. Even if it is somewhat more expensive, your dog will thank you for some easy homemade dog treats.

I agree to the fullest. All the additives, whether they be labeled as beneficial or not, are all man made, and synthetic additives are not necessarily the best for dogs. Dogs get everything they need in the wild, and therefore doesn't need man to give them vitamins in place of a correct nutritious meal. I make my own dog treats with all natural ingredients and my website shows all the types I have available to cat and dog lovers out there. I am in the process of perfecting a kibble for dogs that's balanced correctly with all the necessary daily vitamins. Check out my website, get some treats, and look out for the kibble that will be available soon. Keep loving your pet and be sure you know what you're feeding them!
